9th Convocation of BAU, Sabour Highlights Excellence in Agricultural Education and Innovation

The 9th Convocation of Bihar Agricultural University was held on April 24, 2026 with great academic pride, celebrating the achievements of graduating students in the presence of dignitaries, faculty, and parents. The ceremony was graced by the Hon’ble Governor of Bihar, Syed Ata Hasnain, who attended as Chief Guest and delivered the presidential address. In his remarks, the Chancellor, BAU, Sabour emphasized the critical role of agriculture in ensuring food security and sustainable development urging graduates to contribute to rural transformation and innovation. He highlighted emerging challenges such as climate change and stressed the need for resilience, modern technologies, and interdisciplinary research. The Vice Chancellor, Dr. D. R. Singh, presented key achievements of the university, including strong placement outcomes, expansion of research projects, and advancements in digital governance and academic infrastructure. Degrees and medals were conferred upon meritorious students across disciplines, recognizing academic excellence and research contributions. BAU Vice Chancellor Meets Hon’ble Chief Minister, Shares Future Roadmap

On 19th April, 2026, the Vice Chancellor of Bihar Agricultural University (BAU), Sabour, paid a courtesy visit to the Hon’ble Chief Minister, Shri Samrat Choudhary to apprise him of the university’s on-going initiatives and future roadmap for strengthening agricultural education, research, and extension services in the state. During the meeting, the Vice Chancellor highlighted the significant achievements of BAU in areas such as crop improvement, sustainable farming practices, climate resilient agriculture, and capacity building of farmers and students. Emphasis was also laid on the university’s role in supporting the vision of a developed Bihar through technological interventions and innovation in agriculture. The Hon’ble Chief Minister appreciated the contributions of BAU, Sabour in advancing the agricultural sector and empowering farmers across Bihar. He assured continued support from the state government for strengthening infrastructure, promoting research, and enhancing outreach activities of the university.

BAU Sabour Celebrates Birth Anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar

Bihar Agricultural University, Sabour solemnly observed the birth anniversary of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar on 14th April with due respect and dignity. The programme was graced by the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, along with Deans, Directors, faculty members, officers, staff, and students of Bihar Agricultural University, Sabour. Floral tributes were offered to Dr. Ambedkar followed by addresses highlighting his remarkable contributions to social justice, equality, and the framing of the Indian Constitution. The Hon’ble Vice Chancellor emphasized the importance of adopting Dr. Ambedkar’s ideals in academic and institutional development. The event concluded with a collective pledge to uphold the values of equality, inclusiveness, and social harmony in society.

BAU Sabour Adopts TB Patients under Ni-kshay Mitra Initiative

On April 10, 2026, under the Government of India’s flagship Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, Bihar Agricultural University (BAU), Sabour organized a significant programme to support TB patients through the Ni-kshay Mitra initiative. The event was conducted under the guidance of Vice Chancellor Dr. D.R. Singh and coordinated by the Directorate of Students’ Welfare. On this occasion, the university adopted five TB patients and committed to providing them with nutritional kits for the next six months. The first phase of distribution was carried out along with awareness on regular medication, balanced diet, and periodic health check-ups. Addressing the gathering, Dr. Singh emphasized collective societal responsibility in achieving a TB-free India. Director Students’ Welfare Dr. Shweta Shambhavi and other dignitaries highlighted the importance of nutritional and emotional support in ensuring faster recovery and spreading awareness in society.

BAU Sabour Hosts ICAR-Sponsored Winter School on AI and Geospatial Tools for Advanced Soil and Water Mapping

The Department of Soil Science, Bihar Agricultural University (BAU), Sabour successfully organized an ICAR-sponsored 21-day Winter School on “Integration of Artificial Intelligence and Geospatial Tools for Advanced Soil and Water Resources Mapping” from 7th to 27th March 2026. The trainees gained a foundational understanding coupled with hands on learning and practical exposures from experienced resource persons from reputed Institutions of India. Participants visited advanced laboratory facilities, including the NABL-accredited pesticide residue laboratory, XRD and ICP-MS units, Azolla germplasm bank, vermicomposting unit, drone mapping facility, and biofertilizer production unit. The training emphasized digital soil mapping and modern data-driven approaches to soil classification and resource assessment. Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, BAU, Sabour, congratulated the organizers and emphasized the importance of organizing such relevant scientific training programmes in future.

First Courtesy Visit of the Vice Chancellor, BAU, Sabour to the Newly Appointed Hon’ble Governor-cum-Chancellor of Bihar

On 20 th March 2026, the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of Bihar Agricultural University (BAU), Sabour, paid his first courtesy visit to the newly appointed Hon’ble Governor of Bihar-cum-Chancellor, Lt. Gen Syed Ata Hasnain, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, SM, VSM (Retd.), at Lok Bhawan, Patna. During the meeting, the Vice Chancellor apprised the Hon’ble Chancellor of the university’s recent achievements, on-going research activities, and key initiatives undertaken in the fields of education, research, and extension services. He also shared the university’s vision for future growth and for strengthening its role as a leading institution in agricultural education. As a token of respect, the Vice Chancellor presented a selection of university developed products, including Makhana Chitranjali, honey, products from SABAGRIs, and a book titled “Milestones Achieved and Impact of Nutritional Security through Malnutrition Eradication Programme at BAU, Sabour” to the Hon’ble Governor. The Hon’ble Chancellor appreciated the efforts of the university and extended his best wishes for its continued progress and excellence.

BAU Sabour Hosts National Kisan Mela-2026

Bihar Agricultural University (BAU), Sabour organized a three day National Kisan Mela from 16-18 th  March, 2026 for farmers across the country. The Mela was inaugurated by Shri Ram Kripal Yadav, Hon’ble Agriculture Minister of Bihar. The event witnessed participation of farmers, scientists, and agri-stakeholders showcasing improved crop varieties, modern farm machinery, and innovative agricultural practices. Technical sessions, field demonstrations, and farmer–scientist interactions were the key highlights of this mela. The Vice Chancellor emphasized that this Mela provided an effective platform for transferring technologies from lab to land and strengthening farmers’ livelihoods.

BAU Sabour Invites ICAR Director General for Convocation, Strengthens Academic Collaboration

Dr. D. R. Singh, Vice Chancellor of Bihar Agricultural University, on 11th March paid a courtesy visit to Dr. M. L. Jat, Director General of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, and extended a cordial invitation to attend the university’s forthcoming convocation. The interaction focused on strengthening academic collaboration, promoting innovation, and enhancing research linkages. Bihar Agricultural University Celebrates International Women’s Day

Bihar Agricultural University, Sabour celebrated International Women’s Day with great enthusiasm on 8^th March 2026, recognizing the invaluable contributions of women in agriculture, research, and education. The programme was graced by Registrar, BAU and attended by Dr. Shweta Shambhavi, Dr. Ruby Rani, Dr. Ravi Kesari, and Dr. Kiran Kumari along with faculty members and students of the university. Hon’ble Vice Chancellor in his message highlighted the vital role of women in agriculture, science, education, and nation building, and emphasized that women scientist, educators, and students are playing an increasingly significant role in strengthening agricultural research and development. During the programme, the speakers emphasized women’s empowerment, leadership, and their growing contribution to agricultural innovation and development. The event also encouraged students to strive for excellence and leadership in their academic and professional pursuits. The programme concluded with a collective commitment to promote gender equality, empowerment, and inclusive growth in the agricultural sector.

ICAR-PRT Visit for Accreditation Assessment (16–19 February 2026)

The Peer Review Team (PRT) of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) visited Bihar Agricultural University, Sabour, from 16^th to 19^th February for the purpose of accreditation assessment. The esteemed team conducted a comprehensive evaluation of the University’s academic programmes, research activities, infrastructure facilities, governance system, student support mechanisms, and extension services. During the visit, the PRT members interacted with faculty, students, research scholars, administrative officials, and stakeholders to assess the overall quality and compliance with ICAR norms and standards. They also inspected laboratories, instructional farms, hostels, classrooms, and other institutional facilities. The visit marks a significant milestone in the University’s continuous efforts toward academic excellence, quality enhancement, and strengthening agricultural education in alignment with national standards.
