Bihar Agricultural University, Sabour Commemorates World Soil Day 2025: Promoting Healthy Soils for Healthy Cities
Bihar Agricultural University, Sabour observed World Soil Day on 5th December 2025, aligning with the global theme “Healthy Soils for Healthy Cities.” The Department of Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry organized a series of awareness activities to highlight the vital role of soil in ensuring sustainable urban and rural development. The programme began with a Prabhat Pheri, followed by the inauguration of a Wall Magazine and a conceptual model showcasing soil conservation practices. A newsletter on soil health was released, featuring the department’s ongoing research and outreach initiatives. The event also included a special lecture by Dr. A.K. Jha, Associate Professor, on “Mrida: Ek Sankshipt Parichay”, along with a quiz competition and a poster exhibition to engage students and visitors in learning about soil science. To nurture early understanding of soil stewardship, 20 students (Classes 9 & 10) from Uchcha Madhyamik Vidyalaya, Laxmipur (Ismailpur) and 25 students (Classes 3 to 5) from Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya, Sabour were invited to participate. Faculty members, departmental chairpersons, postgraduate students, and non-teaching staff attended the day-long event, making it a collaborative and impactful celebration.
