“System for Performing Green Synthesis and Characterization of Carbon Quantum Dots Obtained from Mango Peels’’ (Grant number: 202023104782 (Germany), Dated: 12th September 2023)

Technical description

The present invention relates to system to perform green synthesis of carbon quantum dots from mango peel. The peels were freeze dried and subjected to muffle furnace at certain standardised temperature for certain time for carbonization.  The synthesis of CQD was confirmed under UV light that solution was emitting green fluorescence. The CQDs were tested under in vitro condition against the anthracnose causing Colletotrichum sp., while the  in vivo study was carried out on fresh mangoes cv. Malda. The CQDs (3.0 %) application could be recommended for preserving shelf-life and nutritional quality mango cv. Malda during ambient storage up to 12 days.

Specific advantages

The synthesized CQDs are promising to maintain the shelf life and quality of mangoes with reduced incidence of anthracnose diseases during storage. It is an easy to apply technique. As this does not involve any chemical mean therefore, it is safe to use.
