Games & Sports Society:
There is an urgent need today to acknowledge the importance of sports in one’s life especially for students. It is about creating opportunities for a well-rounded education of which sports is an important part. Sports and health are heavily connected. Sports can help students improve their physical fitness, immunity and reduce the risk of many diseases, as we also felt during Covid -19 period due to weak immunity. At Bihar Agricultural University, Sabour, the Games & Sports Society plays an important role in the organization of various games & sports activities. It leads to overall development of student’s fitness and also encourages their participation in various sports programmes outside the university.
Aims:
The Games & Sports Society of BAU, Sabour works with an aim to sensitize, motivate and educate students and staff about importance of fitness, health and discipline for their holistic development.
Objectives:
The objectives of the Games & Sports Society, BAU, Sabour is to organize sports activities for health, personal growth, character building, leadership development through team work and collaborations.
The society has also has objective to encourage students for participation in at least one or other sports activities with enthusiasm which helps in the development of individuals with sporty mindset and use sports as a means to cultivate national identity and pride. The above objectives are met by organization of indoor as well as outdoor games competitions and programmes on regular basis.
The working principle of Games & Sports society, BAU, Sabour:
- The Games & Sports society of BAU, Sabour works under the Directorate of Students’ Welfare, BAU, Sabour
- Apart from organising intra and inter-college games & sports events, the society promotes the improvement of student’s fitness and leadership.
- A calendar of games & sports events has been framed for round the year activities.

Mr. Amit Kumar
|
Mr Amit Kumar has been serving Govt. of India and Govt. of Bihar for 17 years, since 2006. He is working as Deputy Director Administration at Bihar Agricultural University, Sabour for the last 11 years. Earlier he has served Government of India around six years as Assistant Audit Officer and Jr. Statistical Officer on different places- Ranchi, Faridabad and Aligarh before joining BAU Sabour. Apart from his administrative profile he has been performing the duties as the Officer-in-Charge, Sports & Games at BAU, Sabour HQ and also playing the role as Head Coach (Badminton) here. He has been trained as a Badminton Coach at Padukone-Dravid Centre for Sports Excellence, Bangalore.

Dr. Y. K. Singh
|
Dr. Y. K. Singh working as faculty in the Department of Soil Science & Agricultural Chemistry, BAC, BAU, Sabour since 2007. Since the establishment of university, Dr. Singh is working as Officer Incharge, Games & Sports and has been keenly organizing the intra &, inter-college, sports tournaments. He has been leading the sports activities of the university viz. selection of students and their participation in inter-university sports meets.

Dr. Awadhesh Kumar Pal

Dr. Awadhesh Kumar Pal is working as Asstt. Professor in the Department of Plant Physiology, BAC, BAU, Sabour since 2012. Dr. Pal has participated in various games such as boxing, marathon, athletics, volleyball, table tennis etc. at school level. He has participated in national sub junior boxing tournament during his schoolings. He has been serving as In-Charge, Games and Sports at Bihar Agricultural College since 2022. At BAU, Sabour he is engaged in organizing various intra & inter-college games & sports events, apart from extending training and motivating students for sports.
