Research Unit 10: Botanical Research Sub Station, Dhangain, Rohtas

The Botanical Research Unit in Dhangain, Rohtas, established in 1956, plays a pivotal role in advancing botanical research and conservation in Bihar. By focusing on plant taxonomy, flora documentation, conservation biology, ethnobotany, and medicinal plants, the unit contributes significantly to the understanding and preservation of the region's rich plant diversity.

 

Mandate of Botanical Research Unit in Dhangain

·         Collection, evaluation, maintenance and utilization of germplasm for the development of required varieties for the state.

·         Development of high yielding varieties along-with the improvement for resistance against major diseases and insect-pests, particularly sheath blight, BLB & BPH for early, medium & low land rice eco-system.

·         To evolve economically viable & eco-friendly production & protection technology for sustainable production.

·         Dissemination of new varieties and technologies among the farmers as well as demonstrate it among the farmers of this region with newly developed high yielding varieties.

·         Quality seed (B/S, F/S, C/S) production of newly released high yielding varieties.
