Research Unit 12: Betelvine Research Centre, Islampur, Nalanda

The Betelvine Research Centre in Islampur established on 23rd February, 2004, plays a crucial role in supporting betelvine farmers through targeted research and extension activities. By focusing on cultivation practices, pest and disease management, and post-harvest technology, the center aims to enhance the productivity, quality, and sustainability of betelvine cultivation in the region.
Mandate of Betelvine Research Centre, Islampur
· Survey, collection, conservation and documentation of important medicinal and aromatic plants & Betelvine
· Basic and applied research on crop production and crop protection aspects for developing good agricultural practices (GAPs) taking into account of the agro-climatic suitability
· Field demonstration in order to popularize MAPs technology for area expansion of MAP through crop diversification.
· Production and supply of quality seed of commercial medicinal and aromatic crops
· Training on medicinal and aromatic plants and betelvine for skill development of farmers
· Implementation of SCSP & TSP programme of AICRP MAP &Betelvine for Socio-economic upliftment of SC-ST farmers of Bihar
