Research Unit 14: Advance Centre on Sericulture (ACS), Kishanganj

The Advance Centre on Sericulture (ACS) in Kishanganj, established in 2018, is focused on advancing research and development in sericulture. By concentrating on improving silk production, managing pests and diseases, enhancing post-harvest technologies, and providing training and support, the ACS aims to boost the productivity and sustainability of the sericulture industry in the region.

· To undertake research and development activities for sustainable sericulture.
· To undertake technology assessment and refinement for identification of region-specific technologies.
· To create platforms and facilities for appropriate technology dissemination among the stakeholders.
· To develop innovative and efficient marketing models.
· To advise the state on the policy matters of sericulture and silk industry.
· To undertake human resource development in the sericulture sector.
· To collaborate with national and international institutions for R&D.
· Explore potential income-generating activities related to sericulture, such as silk product development.
· To engage in teaching undergraduate courses and incorporating practical, hands-on training experiences for students.
