About the college:
Dr. Kalam Agricultural College, Kishanganj has been established on 10th August 2015 by the order of the Govt. of Bihar. After foundation, Bihar government has decided to rename the Kishanganj Agriculture College in the remembrance of the former Hon'ble President Late Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. Hon'ble Chief Minister, Bihar said, "It was Dr. Kalam, who suggested the inclusive growth model for Bihar, which is rich in cultural heritage, and I am happy that working on his suggestions, development has taken Bihar to a new height over the last 10 years" Moreover, Kishanganj is known for good quality tea production apart from pineapple, dragon fruit and jute. Beside these, maize and rice are the major crops of the district. At present two research centres viz. Horticulture Research Centre and Advance Centre on Sericulture have been sanctioned by the Govt. of Bihar to perform research and extension works on and horticultural crops and sericulture, respectively. DKAC, Kishanganj is serving the farmers, farm women, rural youths and extension functionaries of Agro-climatic Zone-II of the State to update their knowledge and skills.
Goals:
- Increase in agricultural production and productivity of Bihar particularly in Seemanchal region through appropriate, advance and sustainable technological development and their dissemination to the farmers.
- Development of fruit, Silk and food production systems based on agriculture diversification, water & soil conservation and efficient land use planning.
- Building of human resources in the field of agriculture and allied sector through quality education, training to agricultural officers and farmers for overall development of agriculture sector and food and nutritional security of the people.
- Technology adoption by farmers experiencing common agriculture challenges.
Objectives:
- To impart quality education to the students in the field of Agricultural Sciences
- To undertake basic, strategic and applied research for overall development of agriculture and its allied sectors and to address location specific problems.
- To undertake extension programmes for the farmers, rural youth & women by organizing training programmes, diagnostic services for dissemination of advance and sustainable farm technology.
- To produce and supply quality planting materials as well as breeder seeds for multiplication of foundation and certified seeds.
Brief description of Student facilities
Library:
College has a well-established library having around three thousand books with circulation of magazines, daily newspapers. The seating capacity of library is 40 and have various amenities including desktop computers, W-Fi based internet connectivity, photocopying facility. Library has a collection of 2748 books. For the updating of current knowledge, significant periodicals like Indian Farmer, Science Reporter, Yojna, Kurushethra, Kheti, Pratyogita Darpan, Vigyan Pragati, Phalphool, Agriculture Today, etc. are kept in the library. Besides, the college library is also having subscription to more than 5000 e-Journals/ Books as subscribed by BAU, Sabour. The library operates on all working days from 07:00 AM to 07:00 PM.
Sports and game facilities:
There are sufficient facilities for games and sport like football, volleyball, cricket, kho-kho, kabaddi, short put, ring ball, Javelin throw etc. Similarly, boys and girls hostels having indoor games facilities like table tennis, badminton, chess, carom etc. It also comprises a gym for the students with necessary modern exercise equipment’s.

There is one two story School building for schooling purpose is available at DKAC Campus, Kishanganj

There is one two story building of Staff Community center facility for faculty club is available at DKAC Campus, Kishanganj
Hospital:
There is seven beds Medical center at DKAC, Campus, Kishanganj, measuring about 5000 sq. ft.
Shopping complex:
The college has a shopping complex facility with a capacity of 10 shops for students and staff. The college canteen also caters food to the college visitors at the reasonable price.
Bank:
State Bank of India Branch namely Dr. Kalam University College with IFSC Code SBIN0061241 exists at the college campus.
Guest house:
The college has a guest house with capacity of 10 double bed and Scientist Residence with capacity of 16 double bed, well-furnished, having Wi-Fi based internet connectivity. To ensure uninterrupted power supply, guest house is supported with UPS power backup.
ARIS Cell:
The college has Agricultural Research Information System (ARIS Cell) with total desktop capacity of 46 to access the relevant information regarding agriculture and allied sector. All the computers are connected with broadband facility.
Hostels:
There are two separate hostels for boys and girls. The boys hostel is having capacity of 260 whereas as girls hostel has capacity of 150. Both the hostels are provided with filtered drinking water, indoor game facilities.

Cultural and literary activities:
The Cultural Committee, under the direction of the Associate dean cum-Principal, started the DKAC's cultural program to promote it among the students. At the inter-university level, students regularly take part in a variety of activities such as debates and essays etc. At several Universities, students participate in the different activities like Cultural activities, youth festival, which is sponsored by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research and Bihar Agricultural University. The University was pleased with DKAC students last year when they placed first in overall champion in Annual Sport and Cultural.
