About the college:

The Veer Kunwar Singh College of Agriculture, Dumroan (Buxar) has been established on 27th April, 2010 vide the order of the Govt. of Bihar (Letter No. P.P.M.-08/2009/402/ Krishi, Patna, Dated 22.01.2010). In the Chain of the Agricultural Colleges of the State of Bihar after Bihar Agricultural College, Sabour (Estd. Year 1908), Tirhut College of Agriculture, Dholi (Muzaffarpur) and M. B. College of Agriculture, Agwanpur (Saharsa); the College of Agriculture, Dumroan (Buxar) got the place of 4th bead followed by B. P. S. College of Agriculture, Purnea (Estd. Year 2011). The V.K.S.C. O. A., Dumroan (Buxar) is only an Agricultural College in Zone-III B of Bihar always in readiness to serve the farmers and concerned officers of the districts like Buxar, Bhojpur, Rohtas and Kaimur.

This College has been established with under mentioned objectives:

  • To impart education in different branches of Agriculture.
  • To undertake strategic and applied research for developing need based agricultural technologies,
  • To disseminate scientific information to the farmers, youth and women,
  • To plan, organize and conduct on campus and off campus training programmes on different subjects to develop human resource capability in the field of Agriculture, specially with value addition mission approach,
  • To provide consultancy service in agricultural field, NGOs, industry and others,
  • To help the state Government in supplying breeder seeds, graft-gooties for multiplication
  • To serve as repository of scientific information in various aspects of agriculture of Zone III-B by collaborating the relevant agencies for future planning ensuring all round development in agriculture and allied fields in the state of Bihar.
  • The main objective of V.K.S.C.O.A. will be ensuring growth in agricultural production by Teaching, Research, Extension and Training activities of the zone III-B.

Goals:

  • Building of human resources in the field of agriculture and allied sector through quality education, training to agriculture officers and farmers for overall development of agriculture sector and food and nutritional security of the people.
  • Increase in agricultural production and productivity of Bihar in particular and of the country in general through appropriate, advance and sustainable technological development and their dissemination to the farmers.
  • Development of food production systems based on agriculture diversification, water & soil conservation and efficient land use planning.
  • Technology adoption by farmers experiencing common agriculture challenges.

How to reach:

From Dumraon Railway station:- College Campus is about 1.5 km towards Dumraon town

From Buxar Railway Station:- College Campus is about 17 km and round the clock auto/Taxi services are available from Buxar railway station. The tentative charges are for reserve auto Rs.200-250, shared auto Rs.20-25 and Taxi Rs-350-500.

From Patna Airport:- College Campus is about 125 km and 130 km

From Patna Railway Station:- College Campus is well connected with national highway from Patna to Dumraon

Features and facilities

1. Conference Hall:

Conference hall with all modern facilities is available in our institute with the capacity of 50 persons for officers and staff meeting, officers’ training and other educational and administrative purposes.

2. Video Conferencing Hall:

Video conferencing hall is a well equipped art of state real time video streaming facility connected through high speed internet for teaching and training of students, officers, farmers and rural youths by the subject expert at remote place. Video conference hall can accommodate 50 persons at time and have video conversation with the expert at remote place.   

3. Computer Laboratory:

Computer laboratory is equipped with high-speed processing computer along with high-speed internet facility for 30 people for students, officers and staff members for their study, computing. The lab is also equipped with centralised peripherals with scanning, printing as well as Xerox to facilitate students and staff for fast transmission and circulation of information.    

4. Library:

Library of the institute is having collection of more than 5000 books from different courses of the agricultural sciences along with old collection of literature and history. Our library is also having facility of e-access of online available scientific journals as well as books equipped with high speed internet facility. The collection of books and journals are expected to be one lakh in next five years.

5. Central Laboratory:

Presently, our institute is having well equipped two central laboratories for practical classes of the students and training for the farmers along with departmental laboratory for each department. Our laboratory is equipped with Laminar Airflow, BOD incubator, Seed Germinator, Autoclave,  Hot Air Oven, Microscopes.

6. Insect Museum:

Insects’ museum is having collection of around 500 specimens of insects from more than 100 insect species from its local collection along with some exotic insect species presently not available in India. Insect museum is also digitizing the collection of insects with good quality photo photograph for e-recourse generation for awareness on biodiversity of the locality to students, farmers and local people. In future, our insects’ museum will be the showcase of local insect biodiversity with collection of more than one lakh specimens in next 5 years.

7. Examination Hall:

Examination hall is used for mid-term and end-term semester examinations of the students for fare evaluation of their education equipped with CCTV camera and single person sitting arrangements for accommodation of 25 students. Presently, two examination halls are functional. 

8. Multipurpose Hall:

A multipurpose hall is present with in campus for the official and staff member for celebrate different occasion and meetings for the large group of farmer. 250 people can be accommodated in the multipurpose hall along with back yard space for catering and other purpose.

Well furnished guest house is available for the pleasant stay of visitors like government officers, University staff from other campuses, and parents/guardians of student’s studying in the college on payment basis. Both AC and Non-AC rooms are available in the guest house along with a canteen facility inside the guest house. 

11. Girls Hostel:

Girls’ Hostel is “a home away from home” for the female students’ studying in the college. Presently, 100 students can be accommodated in this hostel. A cooperative mess facility is available for the students residing inside the hostel. Indoor sports facility is also available inside the girls hostel campus.  

12. Boys Hostel:

Boys’ hostel is the paradise for the students residing in the hostel. They can enjoy hygienic food from the cooperative mess run by the students. Indoor game facility is also available for the students inside the boys’ hostel.  A big play ground is also available in front of the boys’ hostel for outdoor game and other activity. They enjoy greenery, clean and peaceful ambiance of the hostel. The capacity of the boys’ hostel is of 200 students. 

13 Medical Facility:

Panel medical doctors are available 24x7 for us for any medical emergency in the campus for the students and staff members of the college. A 24 hours ambulance service is also available with us. 

14. Wi-Fi Campus facility:

Our campus is Wi-Fi campus providing all time free internet access to the students and staff member of the college for their knowledge enhancement and opportunity hunt.

15. Automatic mini-weather station:

Our campus is also facilitated with an automatic mini weather station for daily weather record on temp., rainfall, humidity, sunshine, and wind velocity. In future, an automatic whether station may also be developed for the long term climatic study in association with agriculture crop.

16. Play ground:

Playground is the centre of off class room activities by the students. The play ground has the facility to play Cricket, Volleyball, Kabbadi, Kho-Kho, and other track and field games.

17. Residential accommodation for staff:

Our campus is also having semi furnished and full furnished residential accommodation of different types according to the staff cadre of the college. Total 36 staff accommodation is for teaching/officers and 48 staff accommodation is for the non teaching/technical staff. A full furnished residence is also available for Associate Dean –cum-Principal within campus.
