About the college:
Bhola Paswan Shastri Agricultural College (BPSAC) is situated at Purnea City, Purnea with an area of 84 Ha land. It is situated at 25°13' 80" N-27° 07' 59" N latitude and 86° 59’ 06" E -87° 52’ 55" E longitude having average minimum temperature 7°C, average maximum temperature 43°C and average annual rainfall 1408 mm. The collegeis offering the degree B.Sc. with Honours in Agricultureunder Bihar Agricultural University, Sabour, Bhagalpur, which is accredited by National Agricultural Education Accreditation Board, ICAR, New Delhi up to 15 March 2025. The Department of Agriculture, Govt. of Bihar established a Seed Multiplication Farm of 84 ha in 1958 at Purnea and since then the farm was producing quality seed of important crops to cater the need of farmers of the area. Later on, it was realized that research and education are needed for the development of agriculture in this Koshi Region of Bihar. Bhola Paswan Shastri Agricultural College was established on 16.06.2010 vide L.No. P.P.M-123/2009-3468/Agriculture dated 16.06.2010 from Department of Agriculture, Govt. of Bihar. The foundation stone for the campus infrastructure development was laid on 07.01.2012 and campus with Administrative building, Boys’ & Girls’ Hostel, Staff quarters, Sports complex and Auditorium was inaugurated by Sri Nitish Kumar, Hon’ble CM, Bihar on 10th August, 2015. The college is named after the famous personality, social reformer, agriculturist and thrice Chief Minister of Bihar, Late Bhola Paswan Shastri, who hails from Kajha village of Purnea district.
Objectives:
- To impart quality education to the students in the field of Agricultural Sciences.
- To undertake basic, strategic and applied research for over all development of agriculture and its allied sector through advance and novel technology development.
- To undertake extension education programme for the farmers, rural youths & women by organizing on campus and off campus training programmes, diagnostic services for dissemination of advance and sustainable farm technology for their better livelihood.
- To produce and supply breeder seeds for multiplication of foundation and certified seeds.
